The Physics Department made its mark with the enthusiasm of students and teachers alike.It has a noble and glorious tradition of a band of excellent faculty who steered the ship with conviction. Great Professors like Dr. Satya Narayan Prasad, former member, University Service Commission, Bihar and Vice-Chancellor, J.P.University Chapra was earlier the H.O.D of Physics .Dr. B.K.Jha, Dr.B.N.Saha, Dr.B.B.Sahay were some eminent faculty members of the Department.
The Department of Chemistry is rich in tradition. The Department prides itself in carrying out a number of research and projects sponsored by Central Government. Former Head of the Department Dr. Ramesh Pratap Singh guided many research scholars leading to their PhD Degree. He also became the principal, M.I.T. Muzaffarpur and Director, B.I.T. Sindri .In recognition of his work and experience, the Government of Bihar, appointed him Advisor, B.C.E.C.E. Board, Patna where he is still continuing .Department had luminaries like Dr. P.L.Yadav , Dr.K.C.Prasad
The Department of Mathematics has had a galaxy of fervent and learned Professors who have been shaping the destiny of thousand of students of this Institute over the period of time. Dr.R.K.Jha, Dr.S.D.Pandey, Dr.B.N.Prasad, Dr.J.N.Dubey, Dr.A.N.Sinha, Dr.S.K.Chaudhary have been illustrious teachers and made their mark in the Institute with their scholarship and wisdom.
Mathematics is being taught in first and second year classes of engineering and as such the subject forms the very basis of engineering curricula. Like any premier institute the department of Humanities is responsible for balancing the technological brains with humanistic approach to life .Teaching of English language to the engineering students equips them with the essential language skills, spoken/written and communication to compete in the world outside in and diversified fields. Organization of debates, quizes, group discussions, seminars etc forms essential activities of this department .
